A Cambridge man escaped with only minor injuries after walking in on a burglary at his residence Friday, July 6, evening.
According to the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch received a 911 call at about 6:35 p.m. from a homeowner of a residence on the 32300 block of Goldenrod Street NW stating he was met by two masked males inside his house. According to a press release by the Sheriff’s Office, one of the males produced a handgun and ordered the homeowner to the ground, where he proceeded to be bound and assaulted by the two males.
After the two males left, the homeowner was able to free himself and call 911. The homeowner was treated for his injuries at Cambridge Medical Center.
The two burglars reportedly made off with a large sum of cash and coins and several guns during the robbery.
Although the suspects are still at large and the case is still under investigation, the Sheriff’s Office believes that the victim was targeted by the suspects and that this was an isolated incident.
