Scout & Morgan Books and Common Ground United Methodist Church of Cambridge welcome former Senator Dave Durenberger to an Adult Forum to talk about the recent book, “When Republicans Were Progressive” from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, at the church at 404 Cypress Street N, Cambridge.

The book is “a history of a remarkable political party that saw government as a practical tool for creating conditions in which individuals can thrive and why its practices are needed today. Issues that are anathema to today’s GOP—environmental protection, assistance for vulnerable citizens, and economic opportunity for low-wage workers and the middle class – were at the heart of the party’s agenda. Minnesota Republicans held that working across the aisle was a mark of strength, not of weakness or disloyalty.”

Durenberger is a retired three-term Republican U.S. senator and the retired chair of the National Institute of Health Policy.

Books are in-stock at Scout & Morgan Books and will be available for purchase and signing at the event.

The event is free and open to all. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call the bookstore at 763-689-2474.
