These local churches and organizations are offering special events related to Veterans Day or as fundraisers for other projects. Here are a few events in the coming weeks:
Veterans Appreciation Dinner set
South Isanti Baptist Church welcomes all military veterans to an appreciation dinner on Monday, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m. at 3367 County Road 5 NE (3 miles east of Highway 65).
A beef stew meal will be served. Along with the meal, there will be an encouraging message from Jim Rostberg, retired Isanti County Veterans Services Officer.
Spouses of vets are welcome. For handicap accessibility, use the drive-up drop-off entrance and elevator.
The event is free, but attendees should RSVP by Friday, Nov. 8, by calling 763-444-5860 or emailing email@example.com.
Museum display features vets
A special Veterans Day Open House and Display will be offered at Rush City Historical Museum on Monday, Nov. 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 350 S. Eliot Avenue, Rush City.
There will be a special display of veterans’ photos, personal service history, memorabilia and uniforms, plus coffee and treats. The displays will continue through the entire month of November.
Veterans are welcome to bring additional information to the museum during regular open hours on Thursdays from 1-4 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Pork dinner will raise funds
Fish Lake Lutheran Church will hold its annual Pork Dinner, Craft and Bake Sale, and Silent Auction on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 4-6:30 p.m. at 43353 Cedarcrest Trail, Harris.
The meal includes roast pork, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, cole slaw, pickled beets, roll with butter, dessert and choice of milk, coffee or apple cider.
The proceeds go toward a variety of missions projects.
Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 and children 5 and under are free.
