Charles R. Johnson

Charles Ralph Johnson, age 73, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at his Cambridge home with his family by his side.

Chuck was born on June 12, 1945, to Clara Evelyn Jain, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. After they moved to Cambridge, he attended West Riverside School, graduating from Cambridge High School in 1963. He served in the 2nd Infantry Division of the Army from 1966 to 1970, with time spent stationed in Korea during the Vietnam conflict.

Returning home to Cambridge, Chuck worked at the family business, Johnson Plumbing, until 1978 when he began his career with Tower Systems, Inc. of Isanti, and later of Watertown, South Dakota. After leaving TSI, he worked at Nextel before beginning his final business endeavor, Site Management, working with his son, Blake. He retired in 2008 and he and Pat were able to enjoy many winters in their Ocala, Florida, home, allowing Chuck to golf with his good friends year-round.

Chuck was preceded in death by his middle son Brady; brother David; dad Bob and mother Evelyn. 

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Patricia; son Blake; son Perry and his wife Maggie; brothers Paul and wife Lisa; Mark and wife Corrine; Tom and wife Corrie, brother-in-law Clark Carlson and wife Margaret; sisters-in-law Linda Bruss and husband Wayne; Lisa Peterson and husband Jeff; and many nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Cambridge with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be in Cambridge Union Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Cambridge American Legion Post 290. Online condolences can be placed at StrikeLifeTributes.com.
