Dolores L. Westerberg (nee Bellin) passed away on Sept. 12, 2019, at age 90.
Dolores was born on Jan. 8, 1929, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Clarence and Hildur Bellin. She was the first of six children and was baptized and confirmed in Faith Lutheran Church. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1947 and then worked at the Isanti County Agriculture Agent’s office as a secretary. It was then that she met her husband Paul whose father worked at the post office located in the same building where Dolores worked. They were married on Sept. 4, 1948, at Faith Lutheran Church and spent their honeymoon near Duluth. They had three children: Carolyn (Steven) Callahan of Park Ridge, Illinois; Milo Westerberg of Princeton and Rita (Jeffrey) Johnson of Cambridge.
Dolores farmed for many years on the Westerberg family homestead with her husband Paul. They raised dairy cattle, later beef cattle and finally sheep. They won the Silver Bell Award together in Minnesota for having the highest live births in their herd. The farm was a place where many happy holidays were spent with their children and four grandchildren: Derek (Maggi) Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Nick Callahan and Shaina Westerberg. They were joined by three great-granddaughters: Lauren, Leighton and Anna, and two great-grandsons: Logan and Grady.
Dolores worked at Stratte Drug and Cambridge Memorial Hospital as ward secretary where she retired in 1987, to continue farming. She was a longtime member of the Walbo Ladies Aide, a 4-H leader, and an active member of the Cambridge Lutheran Church. She enjoyed singing and playing the accordion with her sister, Harriet, who played the guitar. In their youth, they would sing religious and country music for local events. Later with Paul, she enjoyed square dancing, roller skating and bowling. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and was an excellent seamstress. She will be remembered as a generous and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Dolores was predeceased by her husband, Paul, her sister Harriet; her two brothers, Kenneth and Richard; and her parents. She is survived by Carol (Clarence) Anderson of Isanti, and Kathleen (Clifford) Theline of Cambridge and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
