Georgene Elizabeth Johnson was born July 19, 1943, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Robert “Bob” and Dorothy (Bates) Asp. She grew up in Minneapolis and Excelsior and graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1961. On May 7, 1977, Georgene married Alton “Dick” Johnson.  They made their home in Coon Rapids and then in St. Francis. She worked in bookkeeping at Target for several years and she also was a realtor. Georgene was always positive, the life of the party, and she made the best of everything energetically. She always believed in never giving up, she was a fighter and feisty always.  Georgene loved family functions, singing, camping, road trips, and going to the Hinckley casino. She was also very creative and artistic, and she enjoyed drawing, painting, quilting and crafting. She was also a huge Minnesota Vikings fan. She lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed.

She will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Deanna Hartman, Tracy (Glen) Grell and Jeffrey (Stephanie) Koppendrayer; 10 siblings: Marilyn (Butch) Kelzer, Chuck (Marcia) Asp, Bev (Merlin) Koppendrayer, Andrew Asp (Jan Kincade), Bonnie (Gary) Rasmussen, Scott Asp, Kimberly Smith, Geraldine (Brad) Johnson, Bill (Jackie) Asp, and Barbara Asp; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and by many other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Dorothy; husband, Alton; and brother, Bob “Bobo” Asp Jr.

Funeral services: 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Long Lake Lutheran Church in Isanti. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will be in Egelund Lutheran Cemetery.  Online condolences can be made at StrikeLifeTributes.com
