James H. Du Chaine, age 88, of North Branch, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at his residence.
James was born on June 20, 1930, in Wausau, Wisconsin, to parents Arthur and Grace (Gillman) Du Chaine. He graduated from Wilson High School in St. Paul and enlisted in the Navy Reserves while still in high school. He married Rosemary Fleischhacker on April 14, 1956, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in St. Paul, and they enjoyed 63 years of marriage together. James worked as security guard at the Minnesota State Capitol for many years, as well as being an avid Boy Scouts member for 40 years. He was proud to have two sons become Eagle Scouts. He also enjoyed family camping trips and was able to camp in all of Minnesota’s State Parks.
Preceded in death by parents Grace and Arthur Du Chaine; sisters Dolores Knapp, Natalie Reinke; son James M. Du Chaine; daughter-in-law Mary Potter Du Chaine; great-grandson baby Matthew Du Chaine.
Survived by wife Rosemary (Fleischhacker); children Thomas Du Chaine, Laura (Michael) Hoffman, Mary (Thomas) Nicklay and Robert (Paula) Du Chaine; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and special niece Sister Donna Marie Knapp, O.S.F. of New York.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2019, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in North Branch with Fr. Shane Stoppel-Wasinger officiating. Music was provided by Cathie Hendren and Desirae Peterson. Interment followed the service at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in North Branch.
