Mary E. Torell

Mary Ellen Torell, age 72, of Grasston, Minn., formerly of Cambridge, Minn., passed away peacefully on July 29, 2019.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1946, to Rex and Verona Woods of Mora, Minn. Mary attended Cambridge High School. After school she worked for 31 years for the State of Minnesota as a Human Service Technician. She retired with her husband, Russell, to Grasston, Minn., where she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

Mary really enjoyed traveling to Duluth and the North Shore, watching the big ships sail Lake Superior. During her spare time, she was an avid bowler, joining many leagues in the Cambridge area. She also liked a great garage sale and in her giving ways, sharing her “finds” with friends.

Mary is survived by her children: Richard Torell, Brenda (Steven) Fylling, Scott Torell (Tina Bettinger) and Lisa Torell; grandchildren Shayla (Cainain) Langlie, Desiree (Dan) Bird, Tucker Fylling, Taylor (Derek) Paulsrud, Tatum Fylling (fiancé Chris Gilbertson), Branden Torell, Brady Torell, Jessica (Bronson) Sjolie, Rebecca Stone (Dameon Young) and Madison Stone; great-grandchildren Jaedyn, Saige, Abel and Maverick Langlie, Ryker, Landen and Tate Bird, Lillian and Ellieana Sjolie, Abigail and Scarlette Young.

Also survived by her brother David Woods, god-son Braun Woods, brother-in-law Paul Torell, sister-in-law Caroline Torell and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; husband Russell; sister Joyce (Clayton) Giese; brothers Steve Woods, Tom (Kathy) Woods; sister-in-law Ramona Torell; brothers-in-law Fred (Nancy) Hertwig, and Ronald Torell.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2019, at Cambridge Lutheran Church.   Friends may gather one hour prior to service at the church. Interment in Cambridge Lutheran Cemetery. Online condolences can be shared at Arrangements with the Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Cambridge.
