Richard W. Fix

Richard Willis Fix passed away June 3, 2019, at age 66, of liver failure. He had been waiting on a transplant list for seven years, but it was not to be.

Rich was born on Aug. 4, 1952, in Braham, Minnesota, to Lorraine and John Fix. He graduated from Braham High School in 1970.

Rich married his high school sweetheart, Claire Chapman, on Nov. 28, 1970. They were married 48 years.

In school he was a wrestler and played on the football team. His first job was working fields for a potato farmer, while still in school. After graduation he worked for Barbarosa & Sons for a few years installing pipes. Then he went to work as a laborer in a masonry company, which led him to form his own business, Midstate Masonry, which he ran for 35 years. After his health declined, he phased himself out of the company and went into metal recycling, working by himself.

Rich is survived by his wife Claire, daughter Tracy Duwix (James); grandchildren Richelle and Kevin Duwix; sisters Kathy Fiedler (Don), Joyce Sawatsky (Mark), Dixie Libra (Troy); brothers Don Fix (Geneva), Lee Fix (Julaine), Vern Fix (Lynn); and father John Fix; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother Lorraine Fix and three siblings in their childhood: brothers Rudy and Cliffy, and sister Diana.

There will be a memorial on June 22 at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 921 Downs Road, Champlin, MN.
