Boys and girls track and field
Cambridge-Isanti had a very successful meet in the final incarnation of the Mississippi 8 conference track championships.
The boys team captured the conference championship, earning 200 points, compared to STMA’s 155. In winning the team championship, the Jackets had 22 All-Conference placings in the 18 total events. All-Conference honors are awarded to the first through fourth-place finishers. Honorable Mention is awarded to fifth through eighth place. The Jacket boys also captured seven honorable mentions. Among those, Dylan Larson (400), Ethan Hintermeister (pole vault) and Blaze Krueger (shot put, discus) took home first place. The 4x100 relay team also took home first place.
For the girls, the team results were flipped from the boys, with STMA taking home the championship and C-I finishing a still-satisfying runner-up. Individually, the girls had 12 All-Conference finishes and seven honorable mentions.
AnnaGrace Nelson was a double-winner, taking first in the high jump and 100 hurdles. Kaylee Clement claimed first in the 100 dash, and Char Morke took top honors in the pole vault. The 4x200 relay team also took first place.
After getting eliminated from the team tournament by Anoka, the Jackets set their sights on the individual tournament. There, the team had one individual and one doubles team advance to at least the quarterfinals.
Jacob Zacharias, who was given the #2 seed, advanced to the semifinals before falling to the eventual section champion. He then lost a close third-place match, with both sets going to a tiebreaker, to finish in fourth.
The doubles team of Wyatt Jones and Rigo Mork were given the #8 seed, where they advanced to the quarterfinals before being defeated, also by the eventual section champions.
The Jackets saw their season come to an end in the second round of the Section 7AAAA double-elimination tournament. The Jackets, who were given the #8 seed, lost to #1 seed Forest Lake 10-0 in the opening round of the tournament. That was followed by a 8-0 loss to Coon Rapids in the next round.
In their only competition of the week, the Jackets finished in fourth place out of 10 in the Mississippi 8 conference meet. Individually, MollyAnn Harvey and Jasmyn Sibell took home All-Conference honors, with Brooke Hogie claiming Honorable Mention honors.

The Jackets lost their final two games of the regular season, falling to Grand Rapids 3-2 and Zimmerman 10-8. The Jackets were given the #8 seed and faced #1 seed Blaine in the opening round of the playoffs on Wednesday, after this edition of the Star went to press.
