Bomber Soundbites

Ethan Lindquist hauls in a pass during Braham’s 58-0 win over Barnum on Friday, Oct. 4.

For the second straight week, the Bombers completely dominated their competition. Last week, it was a 52-8 win over North Woods, with this week’s lopsided win coming via a score of 58-0 over Barnum.

Braham would get all the points they needed just three minutes into the game on a seven-yard touchdown run by Luke Bendickson. They would add to that lead on a blocked punt, which was recovered for a touchdown by Alex Londgren. They would end the first quarter with another Bendickson TD run, making the score 22-0 after one quarter.

The other three quarters would be much more of the same as Braham racked up 321 total yards, while only giving up 89 to Barnum. For the game, Bendickson finished with 131 rushing yards and four touchdowns to lead the Bomber onslaught.

Next up for Braham is their homecoming game against Hinckley-Finlayson this Friday, Oct. 11.

The Bombers have found themselves in a losing streak at just the wrong time as section playoffs are quickly approaching. Last week, the Bombers fell twice, bringing their current slide to six matches and their overall record to 8-16.

To start the week, Braham lost to Rush City 3-0 in the two teams’ third meeting of the season, with all of them resulting in shutout wins for the Tigers. The other loss came by a score of 3-1 to Onamia, which was the identical score when they faced each other earlier in the season.

Braham has two opportunities to right the ship before sections start, with matches versus Pine City and at Oglivie.

Cross country

The Bombers took on some tough competition and even tougher weather conditions while competing in the Hinckley-Finlayson Invite on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Running in sloppy conditions, Braham only fielded two varsity runners for the boys and a single varsity runner for the girls. For the boys, Kevin Laman took 29th place. The lone girl, Leah Wickeham, placed 18th.

A week later, the boys team fielded one additional varsity runner at the Royalton Invite, with Laman again being Braham’s top finisher, this time coming in 60th place. Wickeham was again the lone runner for the girls team, coming in 19th.
