C-I Athlete of the Week, Oct. 3

From the coach: Jake is one of those silent athletes. He shows up to all practices and games and puts forth his best, never complaining about the drill or how tired or sore he is. Jake is one of the most dependable players I’ve had the privilege to coach, and his willingness to do the dirty work and not seek the spotlight is a rare trait. Jake deserves to be recognized for all his hard work.

Favorite thing about sports:  I really like being active and hanging out with friends on the team.

Person who has influenced you: My mom, for making me do a sport when I was young, and my brothers for making me want to strive to be better than them.

How do you prepare for a game or meet?: I make sure to have confidence going into the game and then get pumped up by doing the warm-ups and that’s really it.

Highlight of athletic career:  I don’t know – I have blocked some goals, I have played almost this whole season without being subbed; making varsity my junior year was nice too.

Future goals: I hope to go to college and become a physical therapist, but it would be nice if I could continue to play soccer at the college that I go to.
