What will be the keys to the team’s success this year? The gymnasts are very focused and are determined to make this a great season.  They are working extremely hard and have great attitudes. If we can keep everyone healthy, they will enjoy a very successful year.

What challenges will the team face?  Avoiding injuries and being consistent with our performances in competition will be the keys to reaching our goals. We expect to have a lot of new skills to compete this year, and new skills usually take a while to perform cleanly and consistently. We’re hoping to gain that consistency as quickly as possible.

What are your goals for the 2019-2020 season?  Our goals are to repeat as Conference and Section champions and to regain the JV Conference title.

Who is the opponent to watch for this year in the conference/section?  In our conference, Big Lake and Monticello are always strong and look to have great teams again this year. In the section, we expect the teams that finished second to fourth last season to continue being tough: Anoka, Forest Lake and St. Francis.

Who are the players to watch this year?  Captains Noah Peterson and Easton Parnell.

Season synopsis:  The Jackets were surprisingly moved out of the tough Section 7AA down to Section 5A. The team is still very young with only one senior, so the team will primarily look to improve on last season’s results while hopefully building for the future. This is especially true at goalie, where freshman Jonathan Ziebarth will see a vast majority of the action, with sophomore Meghan Gibb moving from the girls team to play junior varsity for the boys and to be Ziebarth’s backup.

Who is the opponent to watch for this year in the conference/section?

North Branch, Monticello, Chisago Lakes and Princeton will all be strong contenders for both championships.

Who are the players to watch this year?  Henry Abraham: 22.8 ppg last season; 2,129 points in career; 383 career three-pointers. Micah Ladd: 10.3 ppg; 45% from 3 last season; great defender. Connor Braaten, Ryan Cox, Paul Swanson, Hunter Melander.

What will be the keys to the team’s success this year? Last season we had success playing fast with a pressure defense. We set a state record for threes made in a season with 376. We want to continue our fast-paced, havoc-style of basketball. We feel this best fits our talent.

What challenges will the team face? Lack of depth and overall size.  We hope that by playing fast we can negate these challenges. Our players will need to be in great shape physically and have the mental toughness to play this style.

What are your goals for the 2019-2020 season? Win the Mississippi 8 Conference and defend our Section 7AAAA championship.

Who is the opponent to watch for this year in the conference/section?  Princeton may be our best challenge. In Section 7AAAA, Duluth East, Coon Rapids and Blaine will be contenders capable of dethroning us.

Who is the opponent to watch for this year in the conference/section?  Becker and Big Lake will both be very good this season in the M8.  Andover would be looked upon to be the section favorite.

What will be the keys to the team’s success this year? We will be rebuilding a bit; however, we will return four section place winners and seven with a great deal of experience. If we can shake the injury bug, that really kept us bogged down last season, we could challenge for M8 Conference honors and place high in the section

What challenges will the team face?  Graduating eight seniors, including two state qualifiers, of which one was a place winner, may be tough to overcome, but look for us to challenge the dual meet marks from last season.

What are your goals for the 2019-2020 season? As always, to contend for conference and section championships, plus send as many individuals to state as possible.

Who is the opponent to watch for this year in the conference/section? With STMA leaving the conference, it will be much more wide open, with St. Francis always having a strong team. Forest Lake and Anoka are in the top 12 preseason polls.
