Let’s Go Fishing East Central Minnesota reports it is excited to kick off its capital campaign with a $5,000 grant from East Central Energy.

According to Let’s Go Fishing, 2018 was a year of substantial growth for the organization. It served over 900 individuals on its two boats in Rush City and Chisago Lake – a 110 percent increase over 2017. Looking forward to 2019, staff believe there are still many unserved individuals that would enjoy a couple hours out on the lake fishing or just riding around.

By the end of the 2018 season, it became apparent that the boat the group uses on Chisago Lake would need replacement. It was determined the group would begin a capital campaign in an effort to raise $32,000 to allow them to purchase a replacement boat, as well as a boat lift on Chisago Lake.

The group has many sponsors that purchase ads on its boats, which provides the organization with operating expense. Capital purchases such as a boat and lift must be raised through grants, fundraising and corporate donations. The organization is operated completely through volunteers and the generous donations of its guests, memorials and by local businesses.

They are also currently looking for volunteers and/or guests. Those interested in volunteering, scheduling time out on the water or donating to the capital campaign may call 651-402-5960 or visit www.eastcentralmn.lgfws.com.
