The University of Minnesota, Morris announces area residents have received honors and awards.

Laura Hoppe, of Wyoming, is the recipient of the David C. Johnson Award for International Service Learning. The David C. Johnson Award for International Service Learning is used to assist deserving students to participate in service learning projects in other nations (e.g. the teaching of English as a second language in developing nations, Habitat for Humanity programs). 

Nicholas Solberg, of Cambridge, is the recipient of the Owen W. & Frances A. Tate Memorial Award for Student Learning. The Owen W. & Frances A. Tate Memorial Award for Student Learning was established by the Tate family to honor the memories of Owen and Frances Tate, lifelong residents of Big Stone County, and to support student learning activities that do not have other funding sources available. 

Students were recognized in a special Honors and Award Ceremony on Friday, May 8, 2015, at the Morris Campus.

More than 7,560 Iowa State University undergraduates have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the 2015 spring semester Dean’s List. Local students include: Kelley Elisabeth Werner of Harris, majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication; Kristina Laila Grand of North Branch, majoring in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design; Patrick C. Mork of North Branch, majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

The Office of the Registrar at the University of Minnesota Crookston recently announced its list of spring 2015 graduates. Students completed their degree requirements during spring 2015. Local students include:

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point honored more than 2,600 undergraduate students for attaining high grade point averages during the spring semester of the 2014-2015 academic year. 

Students who received honors include: Sarah J. Johanson of Chisago City with Honors;  Anthony C Anastasi of Lindstrom with High honors; Chase R Gadbois of Lindstrom with High honors; Kara L Herr of Shafer with Honors.

The following area students have been named to the University of Minnesota-Morris Dean’s List for the Spring 2015 semester. Anne B. Friedrich of East Bethel was named to the Dean’s List at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, for her outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2014-15 year. Friedrich, a member of the Class of 2015, is the daughter of Michael and Cheri Friedrich of East Bethel and attended Meadow Creek Christian School.

Jaden Edmond, of Cambridge, graduated from BlueSky Online School. Edmond attained a high school diploma.
